Sheldon Cummings has been appointed as the General Manager of its Corporate business segment by the global leader in digital communications compliance and intelligence. In this position, Cummings will focus on supporting the needs of registered investment advisor (RIA) firms and broker-dealers, two segments of the market that face increasing compliance responsibilities as a result of the pandemic-induced boom in workplace-related digital communication channels and platforms.
“I am delighted to welcome Sheldon to the Smarsh team,” stated Smarsh CEO Kim Crawford Goodman. “Wealth management businesses are Smarsh’s primary strategic emphasis. The expanding regulatory landscape hits them in ways separate from those of larger, multinational corporations. We are more devoted than ever to strengthening their capacity to effectively and consistently satisfy digital communications compliance standards while serving the demands of their financial advisers and the customers of their advisors. The vision and skill set of Sheldon are perfectly aligned with our long-term strategic objectives for supporting asset management organisations.”
Smarsh offers capture, archiving, and monitoring solutions to businesses in highly regulated areas, such as the financial services. The firm assists RIAs and broker-dealers in meeting their stringent compliance and e-discovery obligations by effectively handling billions of digital messages across a wide range of platforms, including email, text messaging, and the expanding number of workplace collaboration applications.
Cummings will manage the product and engineering teams for the Professional Archive, Web Archive, Entreda (Cyber Compliance), Privva (Vendor Risk Management), and Smarsh Business Solutions offerings, in addition to leading the sales, marketing, and customer support efforts for RIAs and broker-dealers. He is also accountable for the company’s dealings with state and municipal governments.
Cummings has over 25 years of expertise providing services to small and medium-sized businesses. He most recently worked as Mailchimp’s Chief Operational Officer, directing the company’s sales, strategy, and operations. Prior to joining Mailchimp, Cummings served as both Vice President of Sales and Chief Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion Officer at Intuit (CDEIO).
Prior to joining Mondelz International, he served as a Director for Kraft Foods and later for Mondelz. Cummings spent six years in Switzerland while working for Mondelz, promoting international expansion and category growth throughout Europe.
Cummings stated, “I am pleased to join Smarsh and lead our Corporate business team to new heights.” “Every day, the number and diversity of digital messages passing via various business and personal communication channels increase at an exponential rate. Particularly, financial services businesses require a proven industry expert to assist in mitigating the risk exposure associated with these interactions. I look forward to collaborating with everyone at Smarsh to equip our clients with the resources they require to face this incredible and growing challenge.”
Smarsh has over 6,500 clients globally, including several major financial institutions and nine of the top ten international investment banks. In addition to these Enterprise companies, Smarsh has unmatched expertise in supporting both RIA and broker-dealer wealth management organisations in the United States.
