According to reports in the media, Meta (previously Facebook) is planning another round of mass layoffs on Wednesday that would affect at least 4,000 highly qualified workers.
The number of job cuts this week could be in the neighborhood of 4,000, according to a Vox report quoting sources.
CEO of Meta Mark Zuckerberg indicated in March that 10,000 jobs would be eliminated in the next months.
The business will start informing staff on its technical teams whose jobs are being slashed, according to Meta, according to an internal letter obtained by The Washington Post.
According to the source, Meta will also reveal freshly reorganized teams and management hierarchy.
The Washington Post tweeted on Wednesday that “Facebook parent company Meta will announce details about new job cuts on Wednesday, part of a months-long downsizing and restructuring effort that will trim 10,000 employees amid multiple waves of layoffs.”
Zuckerberg indicated in March that he would lay off 10,000 more workers over the course of many waves of employment cuts.
Overall, according to Zuckerberg, “we expect to close about 5,000 additional open roles that we haven’t yet hired” and “reduce our team size by around 10,000 people.”
The new layoffs occurred only four months after he fired 11,000 workers, or 13% of the corporation, in November of last year.
