In an effort to increase money, Twitter, which is supported by Elon Musk, will charge businesses $1,000 per month for their golden verified check mark, plus $50 per month for each associated account. The verification program was unveiled on Friday, the same day Twitter stated it will “wind down” its heritage verification program beginning April 1.
Friday, Twitter CEO Elon Musk affirmed that a verified organization-affiliated person account will continue to enjoy the benefits of the verification mark.
Twitter’s new Verified Organizations initiative allows organizations to join a waiting list for the gold certification checkmark.
In January, Twitter Business unveiled its verification for organizations program. Twitter Business posted on the microblogging network, “Verification for Organizations, formerly known as Blue for Business, will be released shortly.”
Twitter will charge $1,000 for gold-verified checkmarks on company profiles.
“As a subscriber, you will obtain business accounts and affiliation badges via our self-service administrative interface.” The business added in a subsequent tweet.
Matt Navara, a social media expert, tweeted last month that Twitter was contemplating introducing a verified organization scheme with monthly fees beginning at $1,000. At the time, Twitter had not publicly acknowledged this news. Today, Twitter has acknowledged the increased cost for its verified organization program, according to a report by Business Insider.
Notably, billionaire Elon Musk acquired ownership of Twitter in a $44 billion transaction. One of Musk’s earliest initiatives was to introduce a paid verification scheme that offered all users access to the coveted blue checkmark, which had previously been reserved for “notable” persons.
Due to multiple incidences of impersonation, Twitter was compelled to temporarily suspend the paid verification program until December of last year, when it was reactivated. In addition to the verified badge, Twitter Blue subscribers may compose lengthier tweets, modify their tweets, submit videos in 1080p resolution, and see tweets in reader mode.
Twitter is reportedly now developing a feature that would allow Twitter blue users to conceal their verified checkmark. It is still unclear whether this change will be implemented in the stable version of the Twitter app.
